4 Things To Know About Invisalign
4 Things To Know About Invisalign
Invisalign is a popular treatment used to correct misaligned jaws and teeth. It can be used to straighten your teeth and improve the overall health and appearance of your smile. At York Mills Orthodontics, we encourage patients to understand the details of this treatment. Here are some facts you need to know about Invisalign:
1. How It Works
Invisalign treatment involves a series of clear aligner trays made from specially developed plastic material, known as “SmartTrack”. The aligners gently apply pressure to your teeth to move them into a more ideal position as prescribed by your orthodontist. A series of aligners, which are changed on a regular basis, are used to align the teeth into their new position.
2. Duration Of The Treatment
This depends entirely on the complexity of your case and your diligence in wearing your clear aligner trays. In most cases, treatment can last approximately 12 months. Some treatment may take longer and some cases may be shorter than 12 months.
3. Does It Hurt?
Invisalign treatment is usually pain-free. You will experience a little discomfort and soreness when you switch the trays, but this is of short duration and there is no sharp pain.
4. How Long Do You Need To Wear The Trays?
You need to wear the trays for at least 22 hours every day in order to achieve your results according to your treatment plan. Each tray needs to be worn for approximately one to two weeks before switching to the next aligner.
