Cleaning Your Teeth While Wearing Invisalign

One of the benefits you’ll enjoy from Invisalign aligners is that it makes caring for your teeth so easy. Why? Invisalign is a series of clear, plastic and removable aligners that are tailor-made for your teeth. You can easily remove them when you want to brush or floss your teeth.

When you have traditional braces, it’s harder to maintain a good oral hygiene routine because of the wires and brackets that make cleaning more challenging. However, with Invisalign, you don’t have to worry about any brackets or wires, because you can easily remove your clear aligners whenever you need to perform your oral hygiene routine. Here’s how you can take care of your teeth when you have Invisalign:

Remove your Invisalign before brushing your teeth: You have a freedom to remove your Invisalign aligners every time you need to brush or floss your teeth. You don’t need to use any special brushing technique because all you have to do is brush your teeth the way you usually do. Just make sure to remove your aligners first!

Clean your teeth, gums, and tongue: Once you remove your aligners, brush your teeth using a soft bristle toothbrush with fluoride toothpaste. Do this at least twice a day. Floss once daily and don’t forget to clean your tongue too. If you can’t brush your teeth after every meal, you can rinse your mouth with water to remove food residues and particles that stick to your teeth.

Brush or clean your Invisalign trays: Brushing your teeth is not the only thing you need to do when you have Invisalign. You also have to clean your aligners to keep them from harbouring bacteria that can damage your teeth and Invisalign. You may use a cleaning crystal solution to clean your Invisalign trays too. You can also brush them using a soft bristle toothbrush and rinse with water after.
